Scottsdale Independent Interviews Scottsdale Leadership Executive Director,
Lee Ann Witt
What I Do
As executive director of Scottsdale Leadership — a nonprofit focused on developing informed and engaged business and civic leaders — I spend my days connecting people, building partnerships and creating experiences that help leaders better understand our community and how they can make a meaningful impact.
Organizations I'm Involved In
I’m actively involved in several organizations that are close to my heart. I currently serve as president of the Delta Zeta Greater Phoenix Valley Alumnae Chapter and as an advisor to the Delta Zeta Chapter at Arizona State University. I was honored to help establish the ASU chapter in 2005 and served for many years as the collegiate chapter director. I also serve as a board member of the Greater Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce and am a member of the Scottsdale Community College Advisory and Action Team.
My Favorite Volunteer Activity
My favorite volunteer work is through Scottsdale Leadership’s Project Lead It Forward initiatives. I’ve seen firsthand how these projects bring leaders together to meet real needs and create meaningful change for nonprofits, schools and families. Watching people discover their ability to make a difference and then stay involved long after is incredibly inspiring and why this work deserves support.
Suggestions to New Residents Looking to Become Involved
My number one suggestion would be to – to say yes. When I first got involved in the community, it started with simply showing up—attending events, volunteering and meeting people I didn’t yet know. Getting involved helped give me a sense of belonging to the community. It helps turn a place into a home.
What One Thing Would You Like to See Change in Our Community
Something I would love to see evolve in our community would be seeing even more connection across generations and community sectors, paired with a renewed commitment to civil dialogue. Scottsdale has incredible people doing meaningful work, and when we intentionally bring those voices together — young professionals, longtime residents, nonprofits, businesses and civic leaders — we create stronger solutions and a more inclusive, engaged community.
People Who Are An Inspiration to Me
I’m inspired by people who lead with integrity, kindness and a genuine commitment to serving others. That includes community leaders who quietly give their time, mentors who challenge me to grow and everyday people who show up consistently for their families and communities. Their steady, purpose-driven leadership inspires me every day.
