Healthcare Day

Healthcare Day is one of those, “I had no idea this was even here” days. It is also one of those days where one walks away with a feeling of pride and gratitude that the City of Scottsdale is home to some of the most cutting-edge healthcare, as well as some of the most down-to-earth healthcare.

We began the day listening to Sarah Kearney, Executive Director of Blue Zones, alumna of Class 30 (ROCKS!) and former President of Scottsdale Leadership’s Board of Directors. Sarah led us through a fun conversation all about Blue Zones, and how it came to Scottsdale and shared a few tried and true ways in which we can all have a better chance of living to 100 with a great quality of life. Craig Kartchner, Vice President of Marketing and Consumer Growth and Engagement took us through the business end of healthcare as it relates to HonorHealth.

Next up was some hands on work with very realistic mannequins (even a DOG mannequin!) as we learned about the amazing work of Honor Health’s Military Partnership. We experienced the training facility in which doctors practice in a very realistic environment in order to provide critical care in a war zone.

We rounded out the day learning about NOAH enhances healthcare in our community with Michael Pearson, Director of Marketing and Engagement at NOAH, and a member of Class 32. We also discussed the science of “Food as Medicine” with Dr. Farshad Fani Marvasti who is the Medical Director of Integrative Medicine at HonorHealth.

Our day ended with group discussion of various leadership scenarios that our Day Chair team have managed in their careers.

A very special thank you to our Day Chairs:

  • Roxanne Flynn, HonorHealth, Director of Military and Community Partnerships and Bioskills Lab, Class 37

  • Kara Greene, HonorHealth, Brand Director, Class 33

  • Liz Kaplan, CFRE, Mayo Clinic, Development Director, Class 27

  • Donna Tew, HonorHealth, SkillBridge Specialist, Class 38
