ARTS DAY

Class 39’s Arts Day began at the beautiful Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. We kicked off the day with introductions to our outstanding Day Chairs, Natalie March Class 33, David Itzkowitz Class 33, Erin Krivanek Class 37 and Cece Cole Class 37. This makes several years that these four talented people have prepared this day for us and we appreciate their time and dedication to creating an exciting and vibrant day for our class members.

And speaking of class members, Peter Boyle of Class 39 helped start off the day by sharing a bit about Scottsdale Arts and his experience being a Scottsdale Arts Board Member. Peter introduced the class to Gerd Wuestemann, CEO and Executive Director of Scottsdale Arts. It is always exciting to hear what Scottsdale Arts is working on for the future. Gerd said, “The Arts are like Parks and Recreation for the soul!” We couldn’t agree more!

We then went off our tours of Public Art and the always vibrant SMoCA exhibition. We enjoy the latest exhibits and became emersed in a digital environment.

After lunch we visited The Scottsdale Artists’ School and Executive Director Trudy Hays once again provided our class with a brief history of this iconic and historical building. Then the class was able to bring out their inner artist with a watercolor activity.

We ended the day at the Western Spirit Museum where we were fortunate to learn from the incredibly knowledgeable docents who took time out to give us the VIP treatment. Our special thanks to Mr. Wade Weber, Education Manager for Western Spirit for always making time for us. We appreciate all that they have done for us over the years!

After that we were off to SkySong for the Scottsdale Family Arts Festival! And believe it or not, we still weren’t done! Our next stop was Happy Hour at Element at SkySong hosted by Mark Hayes of Class 37 who rolled out the red carpet for us…on his day off, no less! Thanks Mark!
